Jim Zub’s Skullkickers book launch

Toronto is a hotbed for comic book talent. I’m always on the lookout for work by emerging and established local writers and artists.

Skullkickers is a new fantasy-comedy series by Jim Zubkavich and published by Image Comics. What’s it about? In the words of the creators:

Two hard-headed mercenaries kill monsters and cause havoc in their search for money, fame and adventure. If you love fantasy, action-comedy, a touch of black-hearted violence and movies like Army of Darkness, then Skullkickers is the book for you!

I’ve only read the preview which included two short stories. It’s fun. I can see the appeal for sword & sorcery fans who don’t take the genre too seriously. (And how can you, really?)

If you’re in Toronto on March 9, head over to The Beguiling comic book shop for the launch of the first trade paperback collection. Jim will be on hard to sign.

And there’s going to be free cake.
