The fifth Wednesday of the month is usually the “slow” week with fewer books shipping. So what better time to launch a new series? The Wake is part of the changed mandate at Vertigo focusing on creator-owned material under the new stewardship of longtime (as in 20-year) Vertigo staffer Shelly Bond, appointed Executive Editor to the DC imprint after Karen Berger stepped down late last year.
